Job SummaryThis is a full-time on-site Safety Coordinator role located in Davison, MI. The primary responsibility of the Safety Coordinator is to drive safety as a top priority throughout the organization assisting in the development, communication, and enforcement of safety programs; all while ensuring to support the ability of the company to drive revenue. The Safety Coordinator will also be responsible for providing safety expertise and coaching to leadership and employees to ensure safe operation at our Davison, MI manufacturing facility. In this respect, the Safety Coordinator shall serve as a working team member and individual contributor to the overall team’s success.
Typical Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and managing company safety policies, initiatives and programs
  • Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive branch safety KPI program
  • Actively look for areas for continuous improvement, and ways to implement and share safety practices both from within and from outside of Mersino
  • Travel to perform branch and jobsite safety inspections and audits at regular intervals; evaluate safety hazards and provide coaching and training to correct any deficiencies
  • Conduct or coordinate safety training as needed; regularly audit to ensure quality safety training is consistently administered and that training records are submitted for proper tracking
  • Act as a first point of contact for branch-level teams seeking support or information related to safety programs, policies or initiatives
  • Act as a first point of contact for injuries, guiding the overall process to ensure the employee receives the appropriate care
  • Promote the reduction or elimination of occupational accidents, injuries and financial losses
  • Participate in the Safety Committee program to help drive company safety initiatives
  • Conduct safe work permits and accident/incident investigations as needed, ensuring that corrective actions are identified and implemented
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state and local regulations pertaining to Mersino operations; ensure compliance on changes to regulations
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction safety or a related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated experience with safety responsibilities
  • Professional certifications in H&S preferable
  • Industrial OSHA 30, OSHA 511, OSHA 502 and knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to construction
  • Additional safety certifications and outreach trainer certifications preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Planning and organizational skills in handling multiple projects
  • Proficient in MS Office and other required PC software applications
