Position Overview

Job Coaches help serve our mission by assisting our clients with maintaining employment in the community. This position requires travel within the Columbia area to our participant's worksites to ensure participants are acclimated to the work environment while assisting with natural supports in an effort to place the participant in long-term employment. A valid driver's license, insurance, and independent transportation are required. A successful job coach has excellent time management and written/verbal communication skills. 

Essential/Primary Functions

  • Assists participants with disabilities in maintaining employment.
  • Works alongside participants as needed to assist with meeting employer expectations with regard to task completion and speed.
  • Provides training to improve participants' work performance after the employer's training period has ended.
  • Problem solves to create accommodations or other ways to address performance issues.
  • Supports participants in developing and maintain relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Develops and maintains natural support on the job and establish working relationships with the supervisor(s).
  • Assists with task analysis as needed.
  • Implements proper fading/re-entry techniques to ensure participant success.
  • Maintains contact with MERS/Goodwill Case Manager assigned to the consumer to report progress and difficulties.
  • Provides bus training or otherwise ensures transportation needs are met.
  • Completes agency paperwork including, but not limited to, daily documentation of observations and job coaching/retention hourly logs.
  • Utilizes time at the work set to complete all necessary paperwork when possible, and maintain a minimum of 80% of hours worked in billable time.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Requirements

  • High school degree and experience working in social services is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree and experience working in the field of social service with individuals with disabilities is preferred.

Essential Training Requirements:

  • First Aid and CPR preferred.
