Merrimack Valley YMCA is Hiring a Food Insecurity Assistant Near Lawrence, MA
The Food Insecurity Assistant at Merrimack Valley YMCA is responsible for all duties, as communicated by Director, pertaining to our Food Insecurity programs. Under the supervision of the Director of Food Insecurity and Community Engagement, all employees maintain a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. This role supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Follows the leadership of the Director of Food Insecurity & Community Engagement
Performs all duties in our Food Pantry and Mobile Pantry, including stacking shelves, making pantry bags, distributing meals and pantry items to the community, and keeping a clean work environment that is compliant by USDA standards
Complete YMCA Driver training/certification to become a cleared driver of our Mobile Food Pantry vehicles
Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and off premises, contributing to serving the community.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers and community members
Report all accidents/unusual incidents immediately and assists with necessary documentation
Performs other duties as required by supervisor, remain flexible
Must be at least 18 years of age
CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 30 days of hire.
Bilingual preferred
Valid Drivers License
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as a team player
Demonstrated maturity, punctuality and follow-through. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
Strong public relations and interpersonal skills
