JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe environment according to State and Federal regulations. Duties involve cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and offices.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

One (1) year experience in housekeeping services in an eldercare facility preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Able to work flexible hours if needed.
• Able to lift and carry 25 lbs.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Good problem-solving abilities and strong organizational skills.
• Must be pleasant, tactful, and courteous to residents, families, and co-workers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Clean Resident Rooms and Showers
   1. Clean and disinfect with approved solutions, vacuum, sweep, mop and dust all surfaces.
   2. Clean resident rooms according to schedule and as requested by supervisor or nursing supervisor.
   3. Clean resident rooms including beds, mattresses, nightstands, windows, lights, overbed tables, commodes, wheelchairs or geri chair and walkers.
   4. Cleans resident bathrooms daily according to procedure including toilets, sink, walls and mirrors.
   5. Mops resident room after all other cleaning and disinfecting has been completed.
   6. Maintain resident rooms in an attractive home like environment.
   7. Cleans resident and central showers daily, as scheduled and according to procedure including walls, floors and shower benches.
   8. Deep clean resident rooms according to established schedule.

1. Clean Common Areas and Offices
   1. Clean and disinfect with approved solutions, vacuum, sweep, mop and dust all surfaces.
   2. Clean common areas and offices according to schedule and as directed by supervisor.
   3. Clean nursing stations, handrails, doors and doorknobs daily.
   4. Responsible for vacuuming carpet and mopping floors according to procedure.

1. Safety and Sanitation
   1. Be alert for resident safety when in resident care areas.
   2. Comply with established safety precautions at all time.
   3. Check and report necessary repairs of resident furniture, wheelchairs or geri chairs, bathroom or shower fixtures or any other secured item or surface in the facility to the Director of Environmental Services immediately.
   4. Report other safety concerns to Director of Environmental Services.
   5. Use only approved cleaning products and supplies in a safe manner according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
   6. Cleaning products are to be kept out of resident’s reach. Products not in use must be locked up at all times. Housekeeping cart is to be locked when walking away from the cart.
   7. Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and where they are located
   8. Knowledge of all emergency/safety procedures

1. Participate as a team member to assure optimum living standards to residents.
   1. 1. Maintains open lines of communication with staff, residents, and visitors, especially when working in resident care areas.
      2. Interacts with residents and their families in an appropriate and professional manner.

1. Other Duties:
   1. 1. Adherence to all corporate/facility policies and procedures.
      2. Attends other meetings as scheduled.
      3. Attend in-services provided by facility.
      4. Other duties as assigned by Director of Environmental Services.

   1. Provide compassionate resident care services.
   2. Establish and maintain positive interactions with internal and external customers, including residents, families, co-workers, vendors and other associates.

1. Physical and Sensory Requirements
   1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
   2. Must be able to read and write the English language in an understandable manner.
   3. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
   4. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use of prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
   5. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.
   6. Must be in good health and demonstrate emotional stability.
   7. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility.
   8. May be required to lift, carry, push, pull and move office equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
   9. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
