What We Seek 

Our processing center is one of the most critical components of our tax consultancy service. In the processing center in Gainesville, we are the hub that receives, processes, mails, and distributes more than 400,000 documents a year. The deadline driven and accurate processing and distribution of incoming and outgoing tax notices, renditions, and other tax materials is the lifeblood of our business. 

Merit Advisors is looking for an intelligent, committed, hardworking, make-it-happen Operations Center Associate to assist the team in handling, sorting, mailing, scanning, and utilizing technology that ensures our important documents get to where they need to be, on time. This role will also provide support to our tax consultants.

Skills needed: 

  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn and thrive in a dynamic team environment. 

  • Proficient with technology: adept at picking up and using advanced document processing software. 

  • Skilled in computer usage, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. 

  • Highly organized with an acute eye for detail. 

  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with strong literacy skills. 

  • Capable of handling pressure, maintaining composure, and making sound decisions, especially when facing tight deadlines. 

  • Team player with a strong work ethic, prioritizing collaboration. 

  • Excellent at providing customer service, understanding the importance of prompt responses. 

  • Bonus points for experience with processing centers, mail sorting tech, or postage meter machines. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 

What Your Day Will Look Like 

  • In general, the Operations Center Associate can expect to: 

  • Utilize mail sorting and scanning technologies. 

  • Process incoming registered or certified mail. 

  • Sort mail by department, location, or category (e.g., bills, notices, personal. 

  • Stamp and record date of receipt and sender’s name. 

  • Keep records of incoming packages. 

  • Collect and prepare correspondence to be mailed (e.g., applying appropriate postage, verifying addresses). 

  • Correct and reforward misdirected mail. 

  • Arrange for certified and express delivery when needed. 

  • Distribute mail to individuals or departments.
