Knowledge:

Profile:

*Associates required or relevant work experience, Bachelors preferred.

Required skills:

*A basic knowledge of food science obtained from related job experience.

*A broad knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies is necessary to ensure a safe working environment.

*A general knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System is required to ensure accurate entry and proper documentation.

*Supervisory skills are essential to secure proper and efficient daily operation of assigned tasks.

*This position requires fully developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with clients and build departmental relationships.

*Client empathy and a general knowledge of service attributes that support high client satisfaction are required to provide proactive and responsive service to clients.

*Planning skills are needed to ensure that samples are received properly for future procedures.

Management::

*Helps supervise the activities of the courier staff. Responsibilities include coordinating daily route pickups, training, giving input on performance appraisals, disciplining and assigning work. The courier dispatch helps coordinate activities of the department with the courier supervisor.

Work Environment:

Works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. The incumbent is required to lift 10-50 pounds of sample as they are received. This individual works extensively with the computer on a daily basis to obtain and enter information. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position

Pay: $19.00 - 23.00/hr depending on experience
