Meridian Biotech is Hiring a Biotech Lab Technician Near Lexington, KY

Position Summary:

Meridian Biotech has exciting opportunity for a Biotech Lab Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting routine laboratory testing and supporting customer focused research and development (R&D) projects. This position is a mixture of independent work and collaboration with a growing group. Hands-on experience related to single cell protein, environmental microbiology, bioprocess, fermentation is preferred. But all are welcome to apply!

Job Description:

  • Conduct daily testing for plant operations.
  • Collect, characterize, and analyze a variety of treatments preformed in laboratory.
  • Performs chemical and physical analyses including but not limited to moisture, protein, total phosphate, total nitrogen, TSS, and COD.
  • Execute experiments in microbial screening, isolation, and scale up of microbial cultures from small (petri dishes) to large (multiple liter) scale fermentation.
  • Develop a data management program.
  • Assist in refining standard operating procedures for lab testing.
  • Collaborate with the team to continually improve operations through quantitative data.
  • Perform innovative research ideas through collaboration with team.
  • Manage laboratory tests and data collection.
  • Aid in development of safety procedures for lab testing and equipment.
  • Maintains, calibrates and/or verifies laboratory equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a scientific subject – biotechnology, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, microbiology, environmental biology, or chemical engineering.
  • Recent Graduate preferred.
  • Hands-on lab experience in a Lab setting.
  • Knowledge of safe use and disposal of chemicals.
  • Critical thinking and good problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate effectively with the team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Inventory the consumables/equipment in laboratory – prepare list of items to order as needed.
  • Cleanliness – sterilize equipment and instruments used in laboratory.
  • Follow the protocol of lab safety rules.
  • Adhere to procedures in place.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
