Qualifications:

  • 2 years Human Resources experience.
  • Minimum 4 years hospitality/management experience preferred
  • Previous managerial experience in hiring, training, supervising and scheduling employees a plus
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Valid driver license with DMV Record acceptable to be insured driver on employer’s insurance policy

Human Resources Business Partner

Summary

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), is responsible for providing support for all functional areas of human resources including, talent acquisition, team member relations, coaching, and team member development for specific hotel management teams and/or regions. The HRBP is responsible for aligning Merete’s Mission and Core Values of delivering superior results to our owners, associates, and guests, while valuing the pursuit of personal and organizational growth, community, integrity, and excellence to all within the organization. The HRBP is a hands-on associate champion and serves as a consultant to hotel management on human resource-related issues. In addition to strategic partnership, the HRBP collaborates across the HR Team to deliver value-added service to hotel management and associates.

This is not a remote position. This position is not eligible for telecommute. This role will be working in the Merete Medford, OR Human Resources office. 

essential functions

  • Advises hotel management regarding policy and program matters, making or recommending appropriate decisions consistent with the strategic direction of Merete Hotel Management.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts thorough and objective investigations. Works in consultation with the Director of HR to resolve complex issues and provide recommendations of appropriate resolution to hotel management to minimize employment-related risks to the organization. Works closely with hotel management and associates to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Responsible for the communication of company policies related to the human resources function to hotel management and associates.
  • Consult with HR Director on the plans and strategies of assigned properties. Provides support including, but not limited to, coaching, counseling, staff changes, etc.
  • Encourage and foster a positive work environment through effective team member relations, communications, and activities. Plans, organizes and executes property-level events including wellness activities, team member engagement events, and corporate-directed programs.
  • Build strong working relationships and credibility with assigned hotel management teams and associates through open communications, visibility, and trust-building activities.
  • Provides coaching to managers/supervisors to ensure they are equipped with skills and tools to consistently apply company policies and enable open communication with their teams.
  • Serves as HR resource for supervisors, assisting with the assessment of associate development needs, planning & delivering training, providing coaching for managers dealing with employee performance issues & difficult situations to ensure fair resolution as well as serving as a leader & role model for key components of Merete’s Pillars.
  • Provides HR policy interpretation and guidance when appropriate and reinforces the communication and rollout of new/updated programs, policies, and compliance activities to department groups
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Assist with benefits administration including but not limited to health and wellness, life, disability, voluntary benefits, and EAP plan administration.
  • Manages the voluntary and involuntary offboarding process, including tracking exit interviews and turnover analytics and analyzing trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Consistently at work and on time, follows instructions and accepts feedback.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Follow all safety procedures. 
  • Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operation.

minimum qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience in Human Resources to include employee relations, recruiting, worker’s compensation.
  • 2 years’ experience in a leadership or management role
  • Multi-unit experience preferred
  • Hospitality experience preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years Human Resource experience of increasing responsibility of any applicable professional experience or, any similar combination of related education and experience.
  • Valid driver license, with acceptable driving record.
