MercyFirst is a not-for-profit human and social service agency that has been serving children and families in need since we were founded by the Sisters of Mercy / Hermanas de las Misericordia in 1894.

Today our agency continues to address the emotional and physical needs of children and families in Brooklyn, Queens and across Long Island through innovative treatments and life-changing interventions.

We provide community-based prevention and family foster care services, group homes in the community for struggling children and families within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and short-term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children.

Each year, MercyFirst serves more than 3,000 children, teenagers and families overcome enormous obstacles, re-imagine their futures and develop their full potential.

SUMMARY :

This position is responsible for the integration and coordination of evidence-based models across agency programs. This individual will work with Social Services, Integrated Health and Residential teams to integrate evidence-based, or evidence supported models of services and treatment, designated for the program into practice.

The individual will be responsible for the coordination and monitoring of training compliance for all evidence-based models.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
  • Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) required; Trauma-informed clinical experience with systems involved families.
  • Experience and knowledge of evidence-based practices and program implementation.
  • Knowledge and experience in residential care strongly preferred.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License, satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to travel in and around the Long Island region.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule and to be on call for emergencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Support programs with the integration of evidence-based / supported models of practice and treatment : i.e. Attachment, Regulation, Competency (ARC), Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Child Parent Interaction Therapy (CPIT).
  • Coordinate training and planning with model-developers to ensure that training deliverables and contract requirements are met on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement training schedules for milieu, casework, and clinical staff members in the identified evidence-based models of practice and treatment.
  • Work with support staff to coordinate trainings / meetings to support implementation activities, including identifying locations, preparing materials, registration, managing CEUs, providing support at trainings.

Develop materials to support implementation (e.g., training materials, briefs, reports).

  • Develop measures to track compliance of training requirements for models and work in partnership with programs to monitor.
  • Collaborate with outside organizations or established learning collaboratives to develop expertise in the various models of practice.
  • Participate in TOT training workshops and TOT consultation with model developers.
  • Assist with grant / contract applications to seek external funding for sustainability.
  • Experience with project coordination, training, and consultation.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care, children's behavioral health and other child-serving systems
  • Participation in monthly supervision, program meetings, trainings and workshops to enhance professional development and support program development initiatives.
  • Establish and sustain a workplace environment that is respectful and supportive of staff, residents, family members, community service providers, and other external stakeholders.
