CURRENT NEED: Full-Time and Part-Time for Buncombe County, Transylvania, Haywood and Yancey Counties

Ability to provide excellent patient care with Mercy and Compassion required

CPR certification preferred.

Certification for Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse or Paramedic required

POSITION SUMMARY:

Mercy Urgent Care provides non-life threatening compassionate medical care to individual patients, businesses, and industry personnel in Buncombe and surrounding counties in Western North Carolina. The Patient Care Provider strives to ensure that all patients receive quality, compassionate health care, supporting providers and other clinical staff in attending to patient needs. The Nursing Professional also assists with patient registration duties.

The Patient Care Provider reports to the Operations Supervisor. This role requires a high degree of clinical and emergency skills, and the ability to anticipate and respond to patient and provider needs in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Patient Care Provider performs the following duties on a regular basis:

  • Collaborates with providers and team members in the urgent care to provide professional, efficient, compassionate, and thorough patient care from intake to discharge
  • Assists the front desk with patient registration duties
  • Communicates professionally and compassionately with patients, establishing personal rapport that promotes a compassionate environment and ensuring that all written and verbal communications adhere to HIPAA and Mercy Urgent Care standards
  • Acts proactively, professionally, and responsibly to ensure all patients and staff are protected against safety hazards
  • Recognizes and processes life-threatening patient emergencies quickly
  • Assures a professional-level quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; complying with national, state, and Mercy Urgent Care procedures, rules and regulations; adhering to infection/exposure control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures; and documenting and communicating any irregularities or clinical needs
  • Documents patient services by charting in patient EMR
  • Inventories supply needs and stocks supplies, maintaining a clean, safe, and organized working environment
  • Ensures proper operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, calling for repairs as needed, and evaluating new equipment and techniques
  • Possesses de-escalation and mediation skills among team members and with patients


WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

The physical requirements include:

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist, requiring full motion of lower extremities and back muscles
  • Crouching, reaching hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
  • Standing and walking for sustained periods of time
  • Pulling and pushing, using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion, or to press against something with a steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position, or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position, requiring substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles
  • Fingering, picking, pinching, typing, grasping, feeling
  • Talking to convey important spoken instructions to others; hearing at normal speaking levels with or without correction
  • Repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
