Salary: 37.93-51.21 USD Facility: Mercy Hospital of Buffalo Shift: Shift 1 Status: Part Time w/Benefits FTE: 0.760000 Bargaining Unit: CWA Local 1133 Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: No Work Schedule: Days and Evenings with Call Weekend and Holiday Rotation Hours: 7:00am to 5:00pm/8:00am to 6:00pm Summary: The role of the registered nurse in the Mercy Ambulatory Procedure Unit (MAPU) focuses on coordinating and providing total nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, to patients and families undergoing invasive procedures. The registered nurse provides leadership by working cooperatively with all patient team personnel to maintain standards of care. Responsibilities: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Currently licensed in New York State
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
Current BLS validation
ACLS validation within three (3) months of hire
One year experience in GI Unit, Invasive Cardiology, or Surgery required
If no applicants have GI Unit, Invasive Cardiology, or Surgery experience, the applicants meeting the following criteria will be considered next:
Currently licensed in New York State
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
Current BLS validation
ACLS validation within three (3) months of hire
One year medical/surgical nursing experience
If no applicants have medical/surgical experience, the applicants meeting the following criteria will be considered next:
Currently licensed in New York State
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
Current BLS validation
ACLS validation within three (3) months of hire
No previous experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Participates in educational conferences and upgrades and maintains professional knowledge and skills related to the area of responsibility, maintains confidentiality, understands the legal aspects of the job function, adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
Role includes a variety of problems to be solved under general guidelines, and calls for a variety of decisions, some of which are complex and must be referred to a resource person.
Assists in directing a small group of employees performing similar or related tasks of a semi-skilled nature. Instructs employees, assigns, evaluates performance and maintains efficiency of staff assigned to her/him.
Has obligations to conserve supplies, equipment and time in a cost-effective environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Good mental and physical health. Activity includes balancing, lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, grasping, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, constant walking, and heavy work. Finger and hand dexterity and visual and aural and olfactory acuity to recognize changes in patients' condition. The ability to cope with stress and handle multiple priorities is required.
