Dignity Health @ Mercy Hospital of Folsom is the community hospital serving the Sierra foothills communities of Folsom El Dorado Hills Granite Bay Cameron Park Shingle Springs and Rescue. Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for collaboration with department leadership to identify educational needs of the Ambulatory, Surgery, Central Sterilization, Endoscopy, IR, and PACU departments; develop and implement programs to meet the identified needs. Coordinates orientation of new staff, assists in maintaining staff educational records. Maintains clinical expertise and serves as a resource and role model to staff. May have access to or be required to distribute drugs, needles or syringes from storage locations, (such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts) to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital policy/procedure.

• Design, Implementation, Presentation and Evaluation of Regional and Facility Specific Education Programs, Inservice and policies.
• Participation in perioperative management team activities both facility based and regionally to coordinate perioperative services standards development with the goal of enhancing patient care; including C.Q.I activities, facility planning (as requested), special projects and committee work.
• Human resources management through effective communication, evaluation, and teaching, of OR Education and Training participants and preceptors for the mentoring process.
• Ensure that all actions taken and methods used to reproduce the results outlined below incorporate and promote the Mission and Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy.
• Assist in the development of a quality improvement plan that reflects the Mission and Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy and which meets current hospital licensing, regulatory agency, and Title 22 requirements and maintains a competent nursing staff in order to ensure compliance.
• Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff, physicians, other hospital personnel and patients to ensure open lines of communication.
• Maintain current knowledge of perioperative issues for self and staff, by remaining aware of the latest recommendations from AORN.
• Communicate with Ancillary and Support Managers to establish and maintain quality standards to ensure positive outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 years of experieince as an RN 
• Bachelors with experience in clinical area (Perioperative Services)
• Valid California RN
• BLS-CPR (from the American Heart Association)

Preffered

• CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room)
• Masters Degree
