Mercy Health is Hiring a Medical Coding Auditor Near Janesville, WI

Overview
  • Medical Coding Auditor, Physican Coding, Days, 80 Hrs/2 wks
  • Location: Mercycare Bldg, Janesville, WI OR Rockton Ave Campus, Rockford, IL. Hybrid, flexible work schedule, and remote opportunities available. Mercyhealth does not currently support remote workers with residency in the following states: CA, OH, OR, PA, NJ, NY.

Performs regular, ongoing internal auditing to improve documentation and coding initiatives, enhance data integrity, and increase communication across the organization. Provides education to ensure accuracy and compliance with current laws, rules and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. May be asked to work weekends and reasonable amounts of overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Audits documentation for appropriate coding and reimbursement and provides education to all partners, including provider/s, clinical, billing and coding staff.
  • Provides comprehensive research to new program initiatives to ensure compliancy and assist in the coding/billing workflow.
  • Conducts provider coding orientation and education sessions and documents all information presented.
  • Designs and presents coding and documentation training sessions on a regular or as needed basis. Additional sessions resulting from researching policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in medical coding with an emphasis in E/M to be able to present educational sessions with confidence.
  • Available as a coding resource for providers, clinical, billing, administrative and coding staff and develops or updates coding processes.
  • Corresponds with the billing staff to establish or improve efficient work flows, policies and procedures as they relate to coding, denial management, and reimbursement.
  • Maintain current coding library for policies and procedures to ensure the information is updated and accurate.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of official coding guidelines established by the American Medical Association (AMA), the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and contracted payers.
Education and Experience

High School graduate or equivalent
Four years of experience coding professional services in multiple specialties
Previous experience in providing education in an individual or group setting
Previous experience in developing work flows and training materials
Previous experience in Epic or other billing and/or coding software

Certification/Licensure

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other equivalent coding certification required

While performing the duties of this job, the partner is regularly required to talk and hear. Eyesight to identify numbers, folders, colors, and computer printouts. Speech to communicate one-on-one and over the telephone. Manual dexterity to operate keyboards, mouse and telephones. Prolonged sitting; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The partner is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The partner must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
