Position Details:
  • Job Title: Wide Format Operator
  • Department: Wide Format
  • Location: Rochester Tech Park, 2332 Innovation Way, Bldg 4, Rochester, NY 14624 **Must have reliable transportation**
  • Schedule: Full-time, A Shift, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Monday - Friday
  • Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour. Final compensation is based on experience.
  • Job Summary: The Wide Format Operator is responsible for all aspects of wide format production such as printing, cutting, finishing, laminating, kitting & packing to produce high-quality printed materials efficiently and accurately for our clients.

  • Reports To: Wide Format Manager
  • Duties/Expectations: While duties may vary from day to day, below is a list of general duties you can expect in this role.
    • Performs all phases of wide format production utilizing digital presses, cutting table, laminator, etc.
    • Accurately sets up equipment to ensure optimal production performance; creates/modifies impositions
    • Proficiently operates equipment for smooth job execution (production monitoring, quality checks, etc.)
    • Maintains equipment to sustain optimal performance and prevent disruptions (cleaning, replacing parts, etc.)
    • Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves issues to minimize quality issues or downtime (calibration, etc.)
    • Accurately applies job ticket information to production, packing and kitting to meet standards
    • Follows production schedule to meet ship date expectations
    • Communicates with management or AMs (file/job issues, production /scheduling concerns, supplies, etc.)
    • Organizes / tracks production materials, inventory (Board and Roll, etc.), cleans and keeps work area orderly
    • Reduces the risk of high-cost occurrences / production errors through quality control
    • Continuously work to develop skills / knowledge and complete all training required by the company
    • Be a team player, communicate clearly and respectfully and maintain a positive attitude
    • Be dependable, reliable, and consistently perform high quality work meeting company production standards
    • Create a safe and hazard free work environment; follow safety protocols and report any risks
    • Perform other duties as needed / assigned
    • Adhere to all company and department policies and procedures
What we are looking for:
  • Position Qualifications:
    • Work Experience: Commercial print industry experience is required, with a minimum of 1 year machine operator in wide format, digital press or finishing equipment preferred. Plus, experience with Adobe suite, imposing, press, and cutting software is highly preferred. Forklift and/or electric pallet jack experience is preferred.
    • Knowledge/Skills: Good aptitude for mechanical functions, strong attention to detail, problem-solving, organization, multi-tasking, basic computer and math, and effective communication skills with ability to apply written instructions to machine operation is required. Understanding of quality control, press software functions to print files and printing operations for wide format substrates, digital & finishing plus familiarity with layout, trim, bleed, file & color is highly preferred. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, LSS, ISO, and a 5S mindset is preferred.
    • Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
    • Must be of legal working age and eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
    • Works indoors in a temperature-controlled manufacturing facility and will be exposed to loud sounds, hazardous chemicals, and equipment on the production floor. Must have the ability to bend, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; stand/walk on hard surfaces for extended periods; complete repetitive tasks; operate computers and/or machines (dexterity, bend, stretch, reach, climb, crouch, etc.); and communicate effectively. Keen vision required for color detail. *Reasonable accommodations may be available upon request.
