Merck Sharp & Dohme is Hiring a Business Analyst - Financial Planning and Analytics (Hybrid - Rahway, NJ) Near Rahway, NJ

Job Description

Enterprise IT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Analyst to join our Finance Value Team as part of the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) product line. The ideal candidate will work closely with key stakeholders in the Finance organization to gain in depth knowledge of critical business processes that support financial planning and monthly close activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for various activities, including translating business needs into technical requirements, understanding and managing the data that enables these finance processes, developing adhoc reports in response to business queries, assisting with the management and governance of master data, and supporting system security and administration for various applications that support these processes. The candidate should possess a strong analytical skillset and be proficient in various technologies such as SAP BW and BPC, with the ability to provide insightful reports and solve technical and data issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with various stakeholders in Finance to gain an understanding of existing business processes and pain points and help develop clear requirements for technology solutions to those problems Work closely with IT architects to help define options for technology solutions to business needs Assist with the management of operational tasks in support of ongoing business processes across multiple applications that support the Finance landscape Gain a detailed understanding of the various technology solutions supporting Finance, including Hyperion (FCCS), the Financial Sharing Area, and the SAP BW and BPC systems.

  • Assist Finance with data analysis and reconciliation between the various SAP & Non-SAP systems involved in financial forecasting processes.

  • Develop adhoc reports that provide Business users with plan/Actual data, utilizing systems such as BW, Bex Analyzer, and Analysis for Office reporting tools.

  • Support and handle master data and transactional data loading, along with the validation process. Provide guidance to Finance on security role management across various SAP and non-SAP systems.

  • Configure and schedule Data Manager packages through BPC for Office.

  • Perform detailed system and reporting analysis, and develop functional and technical specifications for system improvement.

  • Solve technical and data issues reported by users through the shared mailbox and/or service management applications (e.g., ServiceNow).

  • Handle shared mailbox and communications related to system availabilities, downtime, FX updates, and other relevant information.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Analyst in finance or related roles, specifically in handling financial consolidation processes, data reconciliation, and report generation.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting and data issues.

  • Proficiency in systems such as BW, Bex Analyzer, BPC, Hyperion (FCCS), and SAP.

  • Experience in handling master data and transactional data loading, along with validation.

  • Knowledge of system security management and administration.

  • Expertise in report generation using Bex Analyzer and Analysis for Office reporting tools.

  • Experience in configuring and scheduling Data Manager packages through BPC for Office.

  • Ability to analyze systems and reporting requirements, and develop functional and technical specifications.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master's Degree preferred.

  • Relevant certification(s) in systems such as SAP BPC, BW, or Hyperion (FCCS) is a plus.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Expected salary range:

$101,100.00 - $159,100.00
