Please note that the salary range indicated is the 2023-24 salary schedule and will be adjusted as new bargained agreement is reached.
The position is eligible for health benefits through the School Employee Benefits Board (SEBB) and retirement through the Department of Retirement Services (DRS).
POSITION SUMMARY
An English Language Learner (ELL) Paraeducator is a school employee who works under the direction of a certificated teacher to provide instruction and other services for children whose native language is one other than English. The certificated teacher is responsible for the overall management of the classroom or program, including the design, implementation and evaluation of the instructional program and monitoring of student progress. The Paraeducator’s responsibility is to implement the program as designed and directed by the ELL or classroom teacher. The principal directly supervises the Paraprofessional and has the right to assign duties to the Paraprofessional.

PAY AND CLASSIFICATION
Category 2, Position 1 – Per the Classified Collective Bargaining Agreement
Applicants with an active Washington State Teaching Certificate or Permit will be placed at Paraprofessional (Position 1) - Step 3 of the MIEA salary schedule after the Certificate or Permit has been submitted to Human Resources.
