DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Understand financial and mental health insurance nuance and communicate options with patients

· Gather relevant data for eligibility and benefit verification, including all medical codes and billable CPT codes for Psychiatric Services

· Verify eligibility and medical benefits with third party payers for scheduled patient services

· Re-verification of the benefits for all current patients monthly

· Obtain prior authorizations, pre-determinations, and prerequisites prior to services being rendered. Update authorizations in the patient’s EMR

· Ensure patients meet criteria as outlined by the third-party payer’s reimbursement / clinical policies

· Generate patient financial treatment estimate and counsels each patient prior to treatment

· Communicate with patients in need of financial assistance and submit for evaluation

· Document all patient financial counseling activities, benefit details, eligibility and interactions in the patient’s EMR as well as our company CRM.

· Communicate with psychiatric provider and staff any delays in the financial process

· Generate invoices as needed

· Office tasks as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at once

· Self-motivated, sense of urgency, with extraordinary attention to detail

· Knowledge of medical, neurological, and psychiatric terminology

· Understanding of payor guidelines and reimbursement policies

· Collaborative in nature. Able to work well with coworkers and physicians as a team

· Problem solver, able to swiftly identify and address concerns

· Technically proficient with medical and EMR software programs

· Ability to work collaborateively and independently

· Comfortable communicating about treatment modalities and mental health

EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Prefer 1-4 years experience working in healthcare benefits verification or prior authorization required
• Billing and coding experience (CPT codes, ICD10s)
• MENTAL HEALTH CARE EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
