Transfer Opportunity – Transfer Opportunity: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Open-Competitive: a high school or equivalent diploma, eligibility for appointment as a Peace Officer in New York State, and completion of a one year traineeship.
New York State Residency and United States Citizenship: At the time of appointment, you must be a resident of New York State and a citizen of the United States. Employment requires that you maintain your residency in New York State.
License Requirements: At the time of appointment and as a condition for continued employment, you must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. Conditional and Restricted licenses are not acceptable.
Peace Officer Requirements: Safety and Security Officers have peace officer status as authorized under Criminal Procedure Law Section 2.10 and Sections 7.25 and 13.25 of Mental Hygiene Law or Section 455 of Public Health Law. As such, they must meet the requirements for appointment to public office defined in Public Officers Law Section 3 (1) and for continued employment as required in Section 30.
Physical/Medical Requirements: Your physical and medical condition will be evaluated to ensure that you are able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties of the position to which you are seeking appointment with or without reasonable accommodation. The medical examination will be required upon a conditional offer of appointment. You are responsible for payments of the clinical laboratory test fees. The physical/medical standards include a physical fitness test, a medical standards evaluation, and a substance abuse screening.
