Description

MHC has an immediate part-time opening for Friday and Saturday overnights (Saturday, Sunday, 12:00 am - 8:00 am) for a Residential Specialist I within the Stamford area. This position will be responsible to document and deliver services, including Medicaid reimbursable services, if applicable, to persons in recovery in the activities outlined in their Individual Recovery Plans.

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour. MHC is currently paying a shift differential of an extra $1.00 per hour worked between 12:00 am - 8:00 am.

Requirements

The Residential Specialist I responsibilities include:

  • Engage with persons in recovery to assure they participate in programs and activities.
  • Document all activities, communications, and encounters with individuals in recovery according to service contract and MHC requirements.
  • Ensure the safety of individuals in their residence through proper supervision of the site including being aware of necessary treatment issues.
  • Orient individuals to the program available to them.
  • Responsible for maintaining specific activity and progress reports.
  • Teach and assist Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Implement the Individual Recovery Plan (IRP).
  • Monitor and documents the self-administration of medications noting any refusal, resistance, reactions, errors, or special conditions.
  • Monitor the safety of individuals in recovery in their residences through proper supervision of the sites ensuring the maintenance of safe and healthy facilities. May include conducting rounds/check-ins with housed individuals.
  • Communicate immediate concerns with supervisory staff.
  • Provide emergent program site coverage when necessary. May be mandated to remain on site or to report beyond scheduled hours to provide essential coverage.
  • Attend trainings and meetings as required.
  • Perceive Problems and initiate timely corrective actions.
  • Willing and able to drive a personally owned vehicle locally and within the state.
  • Knowledge of the treatment needs of people who have mental health and co-occurring conditions; knowledge of basic counseling skills; ability to develop and maintain cooperative, professional relationships with program participants, other staff, and community agencies; ability to work in a team environment; ability to take responsibility with minimal supervision and direction.

Education and/or Experience:

  • GED or High School Diploma required.
  • Experience in community mental health preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic counseling skills.
  • Experience with individuals who have mental health conditions and involvement in the criminal justice system preferred.
