Menomonie Market Food Co-op is Hiring an Outreach and Education Coordinator Near Eau Claire, WI

Menomonie Market Food Co-op is a community owned grocery store and deli with locations in Menomonie and Eau Claire Wisconsin. Our mission is to be central to thriving, healthy communities by providing local access to healthy choices for physical, social, and environmental needs.

We are seeking an Outreach & Education Coordinator to assist with increasing awareness about the co-op difference in our local community.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Outreach & Education Coordinator will assist the marketing department with organizing and overseeing outreach programs and services, including donations, events, classes, and educational demos. The outreach program should further MMFC’s Ends of being central to thriving, healthy communities by increasing awareness about the co-op difference, educational opportunities at MMFC, and our great food!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INTERNAL SERVICE

  • Provide excellent customer service to our shoppers, making customers’ needs the priority whenever on the sales floor or answering the phone.
  • Share information with our shoppers about MMFC happenings, educational opportunities, and the benefits of co-op ownership.
  • Provide excellent internal customer service to all staff members, maintaining an attitude of goodwill toward oneself and others.
  • Help to create a work environment that is cooperative, fun, productive, and safe, and that focuses on solutions instead of problems.
  • Work to resolve any customer complaints or issues with appropriate department manager and any internal conflicts directly.

II. LEADERSHIP

  • Model supportive and participatory leadership; promote team building within the staff.
  • Treat people with consistency and fairness, in a style appropriate to a cooperative work environment.
  • Ensure that communications are clear, direct, and respectful.
  • Ensure the integrity of MMFC’s Ends Statement in decision-making and interactions with others.
  • Use correct channels to respectfully resolve interpersonal conflicts.
  • Act as a model to all store employees by following all policies and procedures and upholding the Ends, vision, and values of the organization.

III. OUTREACH

  • Oversee MMFC’s donation program, ensuring accurate tracking and appropriate allocation of donations to community organizations within budget. Evaluate internal donations system and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Assist with and/or oversee planning and staffing for external and internal events. Provide follow up evaluation to ensure continual improvement in planning and execution.
  • Coordinate use of the MMFC Classroom, including scheduling, publicity, document creation, and any needed set up or follow up. Create class calendars that align with customer desires and MMFC Ends.
  • Administer customer comment cards, ensuring customer input reaches appropriate staff member.
  • Develop and administer store tours.
  • Maintain printed materials about co-op ownership.
  • Attend social media content planning meetings to plan promotions. Respond to comments and messages on MMFC accounts.
  • Develop and implement customer surveys, as needed.
  • Assist in training MMFC staff as requested.
  • Serve as media contact, as needed.

IV. DEPARTMENT SUPPORT

  • Collaborate with Marketing team on promotional calendar that supports MMFC’s Ends and primary goals.
  • Coordinate and mail promotional mail-outs.
  • Provide both content and final copy editing to ensure accurate and appropriate published content that aligns with the promotional calendar and MMFC Ends.
  • Complete graphic design projects, as assigned.
  • Coordinate advertising for MMFC’s newsletter.

V. DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE

  • Ensure that department areas are in clean, safe, orderly condition.
  • Maintain department equipment in working order. Advise Marketing Manager of equipment problems.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of department supplies within budget.
  • Participate in setting performance goals for department.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Marketing Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Computer literacy.
  • Organized, pays attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with natural food products.
  • Communications skills--clear instructions, good listening.
  • Experience in events staffing or management preferred.
  • Graphic design experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands.
  • Ability to work effectively in one-on-one and small group relationships and help develop plans and problem-solve effectively.
  • Ability to project an outgoing, friendly personality.
  • Ability to remain positive and flexible in a variety of working environments.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Regular, predictable attendance.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
