GENERAL DESCRIPTION The entry-level automotive technician is trained to perform diagnostic tests on cars, trucks, and other vehicles.

They also repair, maintain, and perform routine inspections of vehicles. As an automotive technician, you are specially trained to deal with electrical and computer components in vehicles, and you use specialized tools and equipment to assess and analyze issues with computer systems and their interaction with the mechanical parts of the vehicle.

• ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Clean engine parts to remove grime and buildup;
• apply lubricant to restore working order Inspect vehicles; examine and test multiple points of interest and thoroughly check for oil leaks Inspect vehicle tires and test the air pressure Perform oil changes by draining existing oil, replacing with new oil, and ensuring proper oil type is used Replace engine filters, including air, cabin, fuel and oil filters Check electrical components of vehicles, such as testing the horn and lights Make recommendations for further service on vehicles based upon inspection Follow company and common-sense safety practices, such as turning engines on only when in well-ventilated areas and ensuring that vehicles are in the right gear before the ignition is turned Maintain clean work area and vehicles;
• clean after performing various job tasks De-contaminate units with ULV fogger, UV lights, and heat Inspect cots for proper operation Duties will vary based upon the number of units due for service KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Strong verbal communication skills Good time management skills;

ability to meet deadlines and maintain maintenance schedules for all vehicles Basic computer knowledge Ability to operate and drive multiple types of vehicles Knowledge of inspection tools, vehicle fluids, wrenches and sockets, air powered tools and other regularly used tools to perform job duties WORKING CONDITIONS The Lube Technician will work 5 days a week with hours to be determined by the Fleet Manager.

Shift days and hours can change based on season and demand. The Lube Technician will work in the automobile workshop, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES Ability to sit, stand, and / or walk for extended periods Ability to bend, crouch, and crawl to perform job duties Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Ability to perform various physical and labor intensive tasks Career Path This is a Entry level position, and the employee will be required to advance knowledge with available training.

Take Ford Tech Classes online and in person when available an meets the criteria. Will acquire ASE certification within 2 years.

Obtain EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) within 2 years. Must maintain Certification, both ASE and EVT. Must maintain Ford Training classes in STARS.

Completion of certificate will move to Tech 1 Any Further training with certification can move candidate to Tech 2 Medical Insurance Employee only premiums starting at $24 / per pay period.
