During summer school, therapists provides skilled interventions and/or adapted tools and strategies to facilitate student access and participation in summer coursework, for students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or eligibility under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This may include activities such as the selection and use of assistive and/or adaptive technology, or therapeutic strategies and tools that remove barriers to access and participation in the curriculum.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy plus a minimum of two (2) years directly related clinical experience. Experience in school based practice or pediatrics preferred. Current licensure to practice physical therapy or occupational therapy in the State of Tennessee required. Members in American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), or national professional associations preferred. Valid Tennessee driver’s license required. Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy preferred. Current SCS therapist in good standing preferred.
The following special conditions are required: Commitment for the entire period of summer school. May involve missing some district training opportunities.Attendance at ALL preparatory planning sessions and periodic administrative meetings.Availability for summer school closeout operations which may occur after new academic year contract has started.

Physical Demands: Requires work involving standing or walking for extended periods including crouching, stooping, twisting, pushing, and pulling. Repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands to grasp or squeeze. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis and may be required to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Some dexterity in operating office equipment. Must be able to use hands and fingers
Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to the usual environmental hazards posed by working with children including coughing, sneezing, drooling, retching, spittle, incontinence, etc. and the biological discharges associated with them.
Sensory (ADA) Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
