Purpose and Scope
This position is responsible for professional instructions during summer school designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in specific grades / subject areas to prepare them to be successful citizens and workers in the 21st century.
Essential Job Functions
Creates a summer school educational environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and needs of the students;
prepares instructional materials for classes assigned and provides written evidence of preparation to Site Administrator Summer School upon request.
Administers tests and assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and an endorsement in the grade / subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate.
Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the collective bargaining agreement.
The following special conditions are required : Commitment for the entire period of summer school and attendance at the Summer School graduation.
May involve missing some district training opportunities. Attendance at ALL preparatory planning sessions and periodic administrative meetings.
Availability prior to the end of the regular school assignment contract to participate in summer school setup and preparation.
Availability for summer school closeout operations which may occur after the new academic year contract has started.
This position is for SUMMER SCHOOL ONLY. LEVEL 4 / 5 TEACHERS ARE PREFERRED

Physical Requirements and Working Environment
Physical Demands : Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis;
and some dexterity in operating office equipment; must be able to use hands and fingers
Unavoidable Hazards : The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.
Sensory (ADA) Requirements : The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
