Memorial Hospital at Gulfport is Hiring a Clinical Informaticist - Clinical Support Services - Days - FT Near Gulfport, MS

The Clinical Informaticist applies knowledge of nursing and computer science to clinical information systems, electronic health records, and medical/clinical workflows to improve nursing services and practices. This position supports programs and projects by providing actionable information and reports as requested. The Informaticist serves as a training resource to clinical staff and patient care providers for the electronic health record system.

Job Description:
  • Applies knowledge of nursing and computer science to clinical information systems, electronic health records, and medical/clinical workflows to improve nursing services and practices
    • Collaborates with the manager, department clinicians, and I/S staff to promote efficient use of health information systems
    • Provides clinical perspective within the department to define priorities, answer questions, troubleshoot, and resolve problems
    • Ensures the information system and technology design is transparent and efficient for use by the clinical practitioner
    • Recommends and promotes strategy implementation to increase efficiency and effectiveness and maintain high user satisfaction related to all systems used in service area
  • Supports programs and projects by providing actionable information and reports as requested
    • Assists I/S in the design, development, and upgrades of assigned clinical solutions by serving as the clinical subject matter resource
    • Collaborates with I/S on upgrades, customizations of current systems, or implementation of new supplementary systems
    • Collaborates with I/S and other informatics experts to troubleshoot and correct system or process issues
    • Identifies user/system concerns and deficits and interacts with staff and I/S to facilitate improvement
    • Translates end-user feedback and needs into system optimizations for I/S
    • Serves as a training resource to clinical staff and patient care providers for the Electronic Health Record system
  • Interacts with clinicians within the service area to identify areas where clinical information systems can effectively support and enhance their clinical process
    • Troubleshoots clinical workflow processes, identifies gaps, and coordinates process solutions to support best practice use of integrated systems
    • Assists in planning staff and physician learning needs in a cooperative effort with the Professional Development Center, I/S, and applicable departments
    • Assists health system users in project and system functionality on a continuous basis

Required Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited program with a minimum of an associate degree in Nursing.

Experience: Five (5) years (with associate degree) or two (2) years (with bachelor’s degree) of clinical RN experience in an acute care facility using an electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management or Information Technology.

Licensure: Current MS RN license, MS 90-day temporary permit, or Compact state RN license.
