Job Summary
The Physician Builder is responsible for increasing provider involvement in the ongoing optimization of Epic, including prioritization and communication of clinical optimization requests, quarterly upgrades, improvement in usability and accuracy of the EMR, and targeted contributions to improve physician efficiency, proficiency, and satisfaction with Epic. Physician Builder will participate in all phases of Epic development, from design to build to testing to release, in partnership with the Clinical Information Technology team and EMR vendor. The Physician Builder must develop work habits and proper communication skills that reflect the Mission and Philosophy of Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center. Reflects the mission, philosophy, core values, and customer service plan of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in action and attitude. All activities are directed at all departments serving all age groups.
Qualifications
Education:MD, strong computer skills required.
Training:
Must obtain Physician Builder Epic certification and completion of the Epic Physician SmartUser Program. Participation in ongoing projects will be required to maintain access to the build environment. The individual must adapt quickly and apply learned principles and techniques to complex situations.
All further certifications must be achieved and maintained within specific certification window. (3 months from last required course)
Experience:
Active clinical experience at MHHCC with at least four years of experience with Epic from a care provider or an Epic application perspective required. Strong communication skills, engagement and teamwork
Performance Requirements
Primary Responsibility:
- Participate in developing new and evaluation of current content and clinical decision support to drive quality initiatives within system.
-Drive clinical engagement and adoption of optimal system workflows.
- Serves as crucial liaison between providers, leadership, executive sponsors, and Information Technology.
- Identify areas of opportunity for increased productivity or increased data gathering or reporting requirements for the department or the hospital.
- Performs testing, documentation and validation of future EHR Upgrade versions and other related software. Acts as a liaison between the clinical staff members and the vendor to implement version or release changes.
- Assist analysts and principal trainers with producing appropriate documentation when necessary to assist the clinical staff members in maximizing the use of their application.
-Responsible for communicating regular Epic updates and facilitating the optimal use of Epic associated with workflows with providers in specialty/division/department
