Summary :

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Responsibilities :

Evaluates learning needs of patient and family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral and spiritual / psychosocial support needs.

Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.

May precept student nurses and new hires.

Additional Job Information :

Complexity of Work : Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience : Three (3) months of patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care or certification of completion from formal training program required.

Other Information : EKG and phlebotomy competencies are required within six (6) months of hire date.
