Requirements:
Medical Degree (M.D.), or equivalent; completion of Residency in Orthopedic Surgery, completion of Fellowship in Spine Surgery, and completion of Fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery; must have license to practice medicine or eligibility for licensure in the State of Illinois.
Duties:
Provide comprehensive care to patients critically ill and injured with conditions of the spine. Perform surgeries to resolve injuries and conditions that affect movement and pain in the back and neck. Work with patients experiencing symptoms from conditions like scoliosis, osteoporosis, tumors, infections, herniated disks, spinal injuries, and fractured vertebrae. Provide full-spectrum care from routine cervical and lumbar surgery to complex spinal reconstruction and revision surgeries. Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds assessing patients’ clinical, psychosocial and disposition status. Direct and supervise patient care activities of nurses and hospital support staff, as well as coordinate with patients’ primary care physicians, critical care staff, and other experts.
