Provide comprehensive clinical care in an inpatient setting to patients of all ages with a wide range of conditions, diseases, and injuries. Order diagnostic tests, interpret the results, and prescribe appropriate interventions, therapies, medications, and other treatment modalities. Establish treatment and preventative health plans for patients and refer patients with serious ailments to specialists, as appropriate. Collect, record, and maintain details of the patients' histories, physical examinations, diagnostic test results, assessments, management plans, and treatment outcomes. Direct, coordinate, and supervise the patient care activities of nurses and hospital support staff. Conduct discharge planning by writing patient discharge summaries and sending them to patients' primary care physicians to maintain continuity and quality of care.
Requirements: M.D. or D.O. (Medical Degree), or equivalent, completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine; license to practice medicine or eligibility for licensure in Illinois.
