Memorial Ambulatory Surgery Center is Hiring a Business Office Manager (BOM) - Ambulatory Surgery Center - Houston, TX Near Houston, TX

The Business Office Manager (BOM) is responsible for managing the day-to-day business operations in our multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center. This individual will be responsible for growing the Center’s case volume, overseeing revenue cycle, managing all business office/front office activities to ensure accomplishment of the Company’s goals, under the direction of the Administrator/Executive Director and Leadership Team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the front office to ensure all daily business operations are streamlined and administrative duties are carried out in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between the Surgery Center and physician’s offices to build rapport and establish strong business relations. (Business Development/Marketing)
  • Provides exceptional customer service to physician schedulers and physicians to ensure they keep booking cases
  • Provides direct operational support to the front office, including surgery scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, and other administrative tasks.
  • Oversees and manages case analyses and case costing with RCM company, Director of Surgical Services and Administrator to ensure profitability of Center.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of regulatory compliance and quality improvement programs for all front office operations, credentialing and RCM practices.
  • Ensures that required billing information, authorizations and patient information is appropriately and accurately collected and submitted to billing operations in a timely manner.
  • Work directly with RCM company to increase collections by managing A/R, billing, coding and claims review.
  • Maintains compliance with center’s policies and procedures

  • Develops and implements business plans to ensure the satisfaction of physicians and their offices in order to grow revenue and case volume to target levels.
  • Identify and solve any issues or potential issues that could be a barrier for physicians to schedule cases.
  • Ensures appropriate procedures are followed in patient scheduling, registration, medical records, billing, and collections, according to the Center’s protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Assists in negotiating payor contracts
  • Maintains provider credentialing files by obtaining updated information before the expiration dates, processing applications for initial appointments and reappointments, ensuring proper review and validity of all required documents in accordance with Center’s Bylaws.
  • Works closely with the Administrator, DON, and Management/Leadership Team to improve processes that will increase efficiency and case volume.
  • Initiates an open line of communication with team members and management to help resolve any internal issues or processes to promote high employee morale, patient-focused care, and a positive experience for physicians.
  • Holds a high level of professionalism at all times while interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures, protocols and practices patient confidentiality/HIPAA.
  • Represents the Company with a positive attitude, well-groomed appearance, and professional image at all times.
  • Performs other job related duties, as assigned or requested.
  • Compiles information and analyzes data to prepare comprehensive reports and make recommendations to improve Surgery Center’s activities.

  • Proficient skills in using computer and electronic devices, including EMRs, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, and group calendars to plan and manage day-to-day activities.

Qualifications:

Experience: 3 years of experience working as a Business Office Manager, Administrator, or relatable position in a Surgery Center setting, in addition to the following:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Information Management, or related degree (or 5 years of direct experience in BOM position to commensurate)
  • Extensive background experience in insurance, billing, coding, and full revenue cycle management.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of healthcare management to direct its operations and implement policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations in Ambulatory Surgery Center settings, including legal, accreditation processes, CMS and other regulatory or governing bodies.
  • Must have the ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Must work well in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently.

Must be a mature, well-adjusted individual who gets along well with others to accomplish company goals. Must be able to show good judgment and initiative, and be alert, adaptable, and persistent to detail. Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule during the Monday-Friday work week.
