Mel Trotter Ministries Thrift Store is Hiring a Processor (Alpine) Near Grand Rapids, MI

To process donations from donors to retail. This includes, but not limited to, accepting, sorting and pricing donated items. This includes but is not limited to compliance with company policies and standards, procedures, and the Mel Trotter ’ Mission Statement.

Description

**This job starts at part time and will go up to a maximum of 30 hours, this could go up based on needs**

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform daily job duties within the processing team and department, including accepting donations, presorting and pricing merchandise.
2. Welcome donors in a timely manner, ensuring they feel appreciated and valued by Mel Trotter.
3. Handle the receiving and donation process with respect and care, greeting donors, assisting with unloading donations, telling the Mel Trotter story, and issuing receipts.
4. Maintain a positive and energetic attitude that aligns with the mission of revealing Christ to donors and team members.
5. Help maintain clean and organized reception, presort, and processing areas.
6. Keep personal processing station clean and organized.
7. Adhere to all employee policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Policy and Procedures manual and the Mel Trotter Mission Statement.
8. Recognize quality merchandise and seek guidance from the Processing Manager for pricing.
9. Thoroughly research merchandise as necessary to maximize the value of donations.
10. Collaborate and effectively communicate with the Processing Manager, other processing employees, and donors on a daily basis.
11. Foster a healthy and productive work environment by working well with fellow employees.
12. Achieve daily and weekly production goals set by the manager, including the overall company goal of 35 pieces produced per hour.
13. Demonstrate the ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
14. Understand and comply with policies and procedures related to donated items, including prohibited items and pricing guides.
15. Utilize the donation receiving script to effectively communicate appreciation, the Mel Trotter Story, and Corner of Your Field to donors.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Must have a pleasant and willing attitude, with a servant's heart.
2. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a strong command of the English language.
3. Ability to write legibly and clearly.
4. Commitment to Mel Trotter's mission and mission statement.
5. Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills.
6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
7. Problem-solving skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, and take initiative.
8. Strong time management skills.
9. Must become proficient in production within the first 90 days to meet established goals.
10. Basic computer skills, including typing and web browsing.
11. Ability to interpret and follow written or oral instructions and goals.

Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for up to 100% of a standard work day.
  • Ability to walk for up to 75% of a standard work day.
  • Ability to sit for less than 50% of a standard work day.
  • Use hands to perform required duties for up to 100% of a standard work day.
  • Lifting and bending for up to 75% of a standard work day.
  • Ability to talk or hear as needed throughout a standard work day.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Schedule and Compensation:
  • Part-time position, up to 30 hours per week, Monday through Saturday.
  • Attendance at specific meetings, off-site events, or training may be required.
