Job Summary/Objective
An Associate Director, Pharmacy at Medvantx must possess a high level of responsibility and knowledge, provide leadership, and set a professional example for the entirety of the organization. The Associate Director, Pharmacy is responsible for ensuring that each prescription is filled accurately, that direct reports receive timely and accurate performance feedback and that medications are being filled timely and in accordance with client service level agreements..
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise direct reports including scheduling, training, record keeping, hiring, promotions, transfers, and performance management. Provide ongoing feedback to direct reports on performance and quality on a routine basis.
  • Manage a team of employees by focusing on daily coaching, teaching, and feedback in addition to rewarding and developing a high performing team.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director(s), Pharmacy and Director, Pharmacy to standardize and regulate pharmacist functions across all Medvantx practice sites.
  • Work closely with other operation departments, including but not limited to Order Entry, Production, Call Center and Supply Chain.
  • Assist the Director, Pharmacist in Charge on processes and procedures that adhere to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain HIPAA regulations and ensure Medvantx remains compliant in all aspects of PHI in conjunction with PIC.
  • Assist Director, Pharmacist in Charge and Director of Audit & Compliance in the resolution of regulatory agency (Boards of Pharmacy, etc.) requests and relationship building to promote Medvantx’s professional attributes.
  • Identification and resolution of potential or actual quality concerns in all aspects of prescription processing in conjunction with Director, Pharmacist in Charge.
  • Provide professional guidance, judgement, and oversight for Pharmacists and interns. This includes any direct responsibilities pertaining to licensing, education, or training.
  • Provide necessary supervision for controlled drug procedures including but not limited to control and ordering of Schedule II medications in conjunction with PIC.
  • Participate in company and site Integrated Quality Squad as needed.
 
  • In cooperation with the inventory department and its leadership, provide clinical insight and ensure proper drug information, storage, distribution, labeling, and utilization of pharmaceutical products.
  • Seek opportunities and sharing of best practices for workflow, metrics, efficiencies and quality enhancement.
  • New program implementation as it relates to workflow in coordination with Director, Pharmacist in Charge and Production Supervisor(s).
  • In cooperation with the Director, Pharmacist in Charge provide Client Success and Sales guidance on issues related to pharmacy operations.
  • Accept additional responsibilities or projects as assigned by your direct supervisor.

Critical Skills
  • Current licensure in home and other required states with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy required.
  • Broad knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; with demonstrated ability collaborate with individuals representing diverse interests to accomplish goals.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory and patient safety standards as related to the practice of pharmacy.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
