We are currently hiring an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program Manager to support the Mystic, CT and Eatontown, NJ locations. This position is 100% onsite and can be based at either location. Up to 25% travel will be required. 

As an EHS Program Manager you will develop procedures and training for hazard communication right-to-know, hazardous materials management, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, lock-out/tag-out, emergency response, confined space, personal protective equipment, ergonomic safety, industrial hygiene, material handling, machine safety, hazardous waste management, and others in compliance with CT DEEP, CONN-OSHA, NJ-OSHA, and NJDEP regulations, corporate requirements, and NIOSH guidelines.

A Day in the Life

In this exciting role as an EHS Program Manager, you will be responsible for implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies, programs, and systems to comply with Federal, State of Connecticut, State of New Jersey, and local EHS regulations as well as Company policies, strategies, initiatives and goals. Major areas of emphasis include aseptic cleanroom operations, industrial safety, risk assessment and controls utilizing hierarchy of controls, industrial hygiene, workers compensation management, ergonomic injury reduction, chemical management, regulated waste management, machine safety, electrical safety, air emissions management and reporting (including Greenhouse Gas), EPCRA Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) reporting, and wastewater management / permitting. You will monitor workplace safety risks and environmental impacts through observation of work processes, equipment, and the work habits of employees with emphasis on safety and health programs.

Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

·Provide project management on site initiatives to drive world-class EHS performance.

·Pro-actively identify and take corrective action against activities that pose potential threats to workers’ health or safety, which may include recommending organizational measures to protect workers’ safety through revised methods, processes, or materials; inspecting workplace environments, equipment, and/or practices to ensure compliance with standards and regulations; and investigating and/or identifying causes regarding filed incidents.

·Ensure appropriate and timely corrective action is taken where environmental, health, and safety hazards exist.

·Promote employee awareness/training on matters of environmental, health, and safety to foster a culture of belonging and personal ownership / accountability for EHS.

·Develop, administer, and implement environmental, health, and safety programs in accordance with governmental requirements.

·Evaluate proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public, and environmental impact. Collaborate with regulatory agencies to determine applicability and corrective action plans.

·Collaborate with EHS network globally.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Management (CHMM)
  • Knowledge of Environmental Sustainability
