Medstat is Hiring a Radiology Tech - Medstat Near Warsaw, IN
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Score Function
_____ 1. Patient Assessment
Positions patients in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to the provider’s specifications while placing protective lead shields on patients, questioning pregnancy; and instructing patients of procedure prior to exam.
b. Makes objective assessment of patient needs, providing appropriate injury treatment. Administers immediate care in a logical, accurate manner obtaining history, vital signs, making observations and displays competency in caring for infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
c. Assists providers with examinations and procedures
_____ 2. Care of Patient
Operates radiology equipment and calculates/selects proper technical factors for exposure based on patient age, physical condition and suspected pathology.
Practices radiation protection and quality control minimizing unnecessary radiation exposure to patients and personnel.
Maintains accurate records of radiology exams completed, any repeat radiology exams completed, patient telephone calls and medical reports in patient medical record.
Ability to multi-task while performing duties in a timely, efficient and accurate manner. Prioritizes workflow appropriately
_____ 3. Management of Information
Ensures files and records are properly completed and maintained with information such as anatomical views taken, patient history, technologist initials on requisitions/films, along with follow-up procedures such as call results. Includes lead markers on all radiographs.
Communicates with and acts as liaison between patient, family, providers, MedStat personnel, hospital personnel and community agencies. Works well as a team.
Follows guidelines for Executive Examination, pre-placement, periodical and DOT physical examination programs.
____ 4. Maintains Clinic Flow
Move patients through the clinic in an efficient manner.
Works to meet MedStat current door-to-door goals
Follows current staffing pattern
Rounds with patients waiting in exam rooms
_____ 5. Laboratory
Performs in-office lab tests as ordered or per protocol.
Performs and documents venipunctures completed on patients.
Prepares proper forms for outgoing lab tests.
Documents lab results on In -House lab forms, in log books, and in EMR.
Knows MedStat Red Flag and Orange Flag policy and is prepared to handle patients meeting those criteria.
In an emergency situation, able to obtain the needed equipment to prepare patient for transfer and or for resuscitation efforts.
Has completed CPR and AED training and holds a current certificate.
_____ 7. Patient Rights
Properly explains Advance Beneficiary Notifications (ABNs) to Medicare patients when required.
Secures ABN signatures when ordered procedure does not meet medical necessity.
Ensures correct patient billing by adding procedures ordered/completed into our EMR system or to our super bill.
Completes a pregnancy questionnaire for age and gender appropriate patients.
_____ 8. Patient Safety
Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition, by changing linen and cleaning the tables, and ensures supplies are properly stocked at all times.
Ensures sterile packaged supplies are not damaged or outdated. Cleans and stocks room at beginning and end of shift.
Ensures accuracy of narcotic count, reorders medications/supplies as assigned, establishes and maintains a clean safe environment for patient and families, observes all safety and hygiene rules, and follows departmental dress code.
_____ 9. Maintains proficiency and or certification
In special procedures, which are a part of MedStats medical monitoring programs, to include but not limited to audiometric screens, Titmus vision screenings, pulmonary function screens and EKG.
With Drug screens and Breath Alcohol tests
_____10. Policy and Procedure
Knows how and where to access MedStat policy.
Follows MedStat and KCH policy and procedure.
Follows MedStat protocols.
Assists at front desk with registration of patients entering the clinic, collecting payments and scanning of documents into patient’s medical records.
Escorts patients to proper exam rooms.
Responsible for knowing the lifting requirements of the job and requesting assistance when appropriate.
Maintains general inventory of supplies and records on log needed items.
Contributes to Performance Improvement activities at Kosciusko Community Hospital and MedStat.
The associate will hold in confidence any and all patient information communicated or stored using any medium including oral communication.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Formal Training Required
Must have an Associates degree or certificate in Science of Radiological Technology from an accredited radiography program.
License Required
Must be ARRT certified or General Radiography Registry eligible.
Experience Required
Previous radiology experience preferred.
OTHER:
EXPOSURE CONTROL LEVEL: __x___ 1 _____ 2 _____ 3
Maintain BLS Certification.
Must carry analytical skills necessary to determine the best method of providing requested radiographs based on the specifics of individual case, ensuring clear and undistorted images.
Must be able to lift 50 lb., assist with 100 lbs.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of basic typing and computer skills required. Previous experience with EMR preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to potentially hazardous conditions due to patient contact (contagious viruses, bacteria, etc.)
Regular exposure to radiation with little or no chance of injury when established safety procedures are followed.
