SPD Tech

Duties

1. Performs quality assurance testing on sterilizers daily

2. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of aforementioned quality assurance testing.

3. Ensures that sterilization devices are in proper working order and documents and reports any malfunction to the Nurse Administrator and/or Materials Manager.

4. Maintains instrument and power equipment through proper cleaning, decontamination, lubrication and proper instrument handling.

5. Maintains inventory of instrument sets according to count sheets.

6. Tracks and records lost/missing instruments and notify Nurse Administrator and/or Materials Manager as needed.

7. Cleans, assembles, wraps and processes instruments, trays and supplies.

8. Ensures availability of sterile instruments and supplies daily.

9. Assists in rapid turnover of flash sterilization of instruments and trays according to needs.

10. Checks all sterilized items for expiration dates on a regular basis.

11. Performs routine maintenance of instruments and equipment.

12. Maintains inventory of instruments in work area.

13. Maintains rotation of all sterilized instruments and supplies.

Requirements

1. Must have previous experience working in all roles with in the SPD setting

2. Must have a knowledge of cleaning and sterilization techniques of surgical instruments/supplies

3. Position requires 80% walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting. Must be able to meet physical demands of role

4. Must have a High School diploma or have completed a GED course

5. Sterilie Processing Certification is preferred
