Job Title: Clinical/Medical Compliance Officer
Report to: Chief Operating Officer
Overview: A Clinical/Medical Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that healthcare organizations comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to clinical and medical practices. They develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain the organization's adherence to legal and ethical standards, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care while minimizing risks and liabilities.
Key Responsibilities: 1.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to clinical and medical practices. Interpret, implement, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, FDA guidelines, and other industry-specific standards. Monitor changes in laws and regulations and update organizational policies accordingly.

Policy Development: Develop, review, and revise policies and procedures related to clinical and medical practices to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including medical staff and legal teams, to create comprehensive and effective compliance policies.

Training and Education: Conduct training sessions for healthcare staff to educate them about compliance policies, regulations, and ethical standards. Develop training materials and resources to enhance the understanding of compliance requirements among employees.

Auditing and Monitoring: Perform regular audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with established policies and procedures. Investigate any potential violations, identify the root causes, and implement corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences.

Reporting and Documentation: Serves as subject matter expert and briefs highest levels of organization effectively. Maintain detailed records of compliance activities, including audits, investigations, and training sessions. Prepare and submit reports to senior management, detailing compliance status, identified risks, and recommendations for improvement.

Risk Management: Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk within the organization. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and prevent legal actions against the organization.

Collaboration: Partner effectively with Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical Officer to integrate and coordinate risk, quality and safety mesures.Collaborate with legal counsel and external regulatory bodies when necessary to address compliance issues and legal concerns. Work closely with healthcare providers, administrators, and other staff to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance.

Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry best practices and evolving compliance standards. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance activities.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, clinical or equivalent work experience.
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and standards.
- Previous experience in healthcare compliance as it pertains to mental health or a related field.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Professional certifications in healthcare compliance (e.g., Certified in Healthcare Compliance - CHC) are desirable.
