Job Summary and Qualifications

The program coordinator creates, develops and implements specialized clinical practice in the specific area of neonatology. Serves as a clinical resource person in the NICU, and serves as a liason throughout the facility and in the community regarding services provided for this unique patient population. Build collaborative relationships with other Neonatal Program Coordinators of designated facilities within the Perinatal Care Region.


What you will do in this role:

  • A registered nurse who has successfully completed and is current in NRP
  • Has the authority and responsibility to monitor the provision of neonatal patient care services from admission, stabilization, and through discharge
  • Oversight of the NICU Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (QAPI) intiatives
  • Collaborate with Neonatal Medical Director in areas to include, but not limited to: developing and/or revising policies, procedure and guidelines, and the QAPI program
  • Collaborate with NICU Nurse Educator and NICU Manager in assuring staff competency, education and training for the neonatal patient population served
  • Chairs the neonatal QAPI multidisciplinary meeting; presents monthly statistics and quality improvements
  • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of Hospital Level of Care Designations for Neonatal Care as per Texas state law
  • Develops collaborative relationships with other NPM’s of designated facilities within the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council’s Perinatal Committee
  • Ensures ongoing family-centered care practices
  • Data mining to ensure quality in perinatal program
  • Development of grand rounds to facilitate family-centered care
  • Develop education and outreach programs
  • Provide age appropriate care to all patient populations for which program coordinator is responsible and trained for and demonstrates communication skills appropriate for age
What qualifications you will need:
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience working in Level III NICU
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Registered Nurse
  • Bachelors Degree
