Job Summary and Qualifications

What You Will Do In This Role

  • Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Perform special assignments as needed/requested. Serves as a clinical resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care.
  • Takes appropriate measures to ensure safety of patients.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-services.
  • Provide care of patients with a variety of medical diagnosis and resulting complications.
  • Takes appropriate measures to ensure security of medications.
  • Is authorized to have access to medication/s for purposes of checking/enabling the patient to administer their own medication/s.
  • Efficient application of recording devices to the patient.
  • Monitoring of polysomnograms to ensure the integrity of diagnostic data collection through proper calibration and monitoring throughout the procedure
  • Recognition of sleep pathology when it occurs in the laboratory and respond with appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety.
  • Set up CPAP and BiLevel in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform, record, and review adult polysomnograms and produce reports.
  • Ability and knowledge to follow all standard operating procedures at all times for patient studies and pre and post study requirements.
  • Provide patient/family education.
  • Monitor patient status and response to therapy.
  • Assures physical safety conditions are observed in all patient related situations.
  • Cooperative and flexible in 24 hour staffing and scheduling requirements in order to meet the needs of the department.
  • Check physician orders prior to the initiation of any treatment or procedure.
  • Participates in hospital or departmental quality assurance/performance improvement activities.
  • Notify service engineer of equipment malfunction in a timely manner.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Director/Manager of the Sleep Diagnostic Center.
  • Must be well trained to handle different ages and risk factors when performing tests/therapies.
  • Take appropriate measures to ensure safety of patients: utilize, ensure compliance, and enforce National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Seek opportunities to improve department and interdepartmental processes.

What Qualifications You Will Need

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Polosomnographer, or Registered Sleep Technician
