Medical Lab Technician (MLT) Scholarship
Medical Associates, the area’s leading healthcare provider multispecialty group practice based out of Dubuque, Iowa is currently offering a competitive scholarship opportunity for first and second-year Medical Lab Technician (MLT) students.
Scholarships are available for students who have enrolled in either the Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC)/Hawkeye Community College's (HCC) or the Southwest Tech (SWTC) MLT program for Fall 2023.
Med Lab Tech (MLT) is a two-year program. Ideal candidates would possess strong organizational and critical thinking skills, the ability to multi-task and a high level of professionalism. Individuals will be helpful and courteous to all team members while creating a positive work environment.
What does an MLT do:
As a Medical Lab Technician at Medical Associates, you will be responsible for performing and reporting lab testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, and limited Blood Bank and Microbiology. Duties will also include verifying specimen labeling and integrity, processing specimens, investigating results, drawing blood, and performing instrument maintenance which includes troubleshooting and repair.

Eligibility Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or GED or higher.

Experience: Customer Service or healthcare experience preferred. Helpful academic background (but not required) include biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Other Skills: Keyboarding skills and use of electronic equipment.
