This is a full-time, 40 hours weekly, position with the Department of Education. For more information on the Department of Education, please visit https : / / doe.sd.gov / .

The South Dakota Accessible Library Services (ALS) serves patrons with print disabilities across the state of South Dakota, in partnership with the Library of Congress's National Library Service.

The SD ALS also works closely with partner libraries and institutions around the state to provide resources, information, and support to create depositories for patrons to visit and try out equipment and services before committing to sign up.

The library also has a robust volunteer program which brings interested individuals in to record and edit materials of South Dakota interest for our patrons.

This position will primarily involve work in cataloging resources and providing reader advisory services utilizing specialized databases.

Reader advisors assist patrons in signing up for services and maintain regular contact throughout their service with the library.

Special attention will be given to processing applications and providing information about other programs. The reader advisor will be responsible for keeping monthly and annual statistics for reporting to the National Library Service and ensuring that service goals are met.

The applicant will also be expected to attend meetings for the ALS team, the state library and Department of Education team, and the National Library Service Reader Advisors panel.

Additionally, this position will involve reviewing recorded materials and other duties as assigned in support of the ALS team.

A bachelor's degree preferred.
