Position Information
New Hanover County Public Library is looking for a Casual Part-Time customer service staff member to engage with the public and provide a welcoming library experience.
This position will primarily work in the
Local History Room at the Main Library . As the primary point of contact for library services, this position requires extensive interaction with patrons, both in-person and by telephone.
In addition, this position answers basic questions and refers patrons to other resources as needed.Good interpersonal skills, friendliness, and a positive attitude are essential for this position.
Position expectations include, but are not limited to :
Essential DutiesInforming patrons of library programs and servicesAssisting with Library opening and closing proceduresUsing the integrated library system (ILS) to process materials and register patrons.

Hours :
Varying schedule with flex hours each week to meet the needs of the location. Libraries are open M-Th 10 am-7 pm, Fri-Sat 10 am-5 pm, Sun 1 pm- 5 pm.
A minimum of 8 hours per week with potential for up to 19 hours per week.

Salary Information : The hiring salary for this position starts at
$17.46 / hr.
