Duties and Responsibilities

As a Public Health Analyst supporting the CDC National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), In this role, you will play a crucial part in facilitating observance planning, developing communication materials, and supporting diversity, equity, belonging, inclusion, and accessibility (DEBIA) initiatives within the NCIPC.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of communications materials for the Special Emphasis Programs (SEPs), supporting outreach to diverse audiences.
  • Support observance planning (development, coordination, and logistics) for ongoing SEPs.
  • Liaise with SEP planning volunteers and partner with Chief Information Officers (CIOs) across the Agency to facilitate observance activities and events.
  • Create DEBIA materials for various events, including All-Hands meetings, Telework Talks, and Coffee & Conversations.
  • Craft messaging for DEBIA progress updates to keep stakeholders informed about ongoing initiatives.
  • Develop DEBIA materials for conferences, presentations, and external marketing opportunities, which involves conveying the organization's commitment to DEBIA principles.
  • Manage the DEBIA knowledge management resource repository, ensuring information is accurate and up to date with relevant materials.
  • Identify and promote existing skills-based training and DEBIA/HE related competencies.
  • Facilitate Monthly DEBIA Council Meetings by preparing materials, drafting agendas, creating slide decks, and facilitating activities.
  • Develop meeting summaries to capture key discussions and action items.
  • Update resources and messaging on the DEBIA intranet site to enhance accessibility and end-user awareness of DEBIA materials and resources.
Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in roles related to communications, program support, diversity, equity, belonging, inclusion, or accessibility.
  • Experience in a government or public health setting
  • Familiarity with government operations, including experience with the preparation of memorandums, scheduling meetings, and working across various departments or teams.
  • Ability to think strategically and take the initiative to drive DEBIA initiatives forward.
  • Strong research abilities, especially in the context of literature review, to inform DEBIA related projects and initiatives.
  • Skills in abstract writing are preferred, which can be valuable for summarizing complex information.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in an office environment.

If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
