Medford Township Public Schools seek an Elementary School Teacher to join our team of dedicated professionals. The Elementary School Teacher will work collaboratively with other educators, administrators, and families to meet the social, emotional and academic needs of students while being an integral and productive part of a larger school community.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, and provides individualized, small group and whole class instruction in accordance with approved textbooks, materials and curriculum guides in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Effectively participates in co-teaching activities when scheduled.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
  • Ensures pupil progress and growth toward stated objectives of instruction.
  • Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils address health, attitude and learning problems
  • Maintains professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education activities provided by the district, annual performance evaluation and selected professional growth activities as described in individual professional improvement plan and other relevant continuing education opportunities.
  • Effectively utilizes and keeps current with technology uses in an instructional setting.
  • Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
  • Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  • Administers pupil assessment instruments in accordance with district testing policy and program, interprets the results and plans instruction accordingly.
  • Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Participates in curriculum development programs as assigned.
  • Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities as assigned.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Superintendent may assign from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • New Jersey teacher certification appropriate to teaching assignments. N.J.S.A. 18A:26-2; N.J.A.C. 6:11-5.1, 5.2, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5, 8.6
  • Such alternatives to the above as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.

Benefits:
Salary and benefits determined by the Medford Education Association negotiated agreement.
