JOB TITLE: CRNA (Nurse Anesthetist)
DEPARTMENT: Anesthesia
JOB REPORTS TO: CRNA Director
JOB SUMMARY:
• Responsible for the provision of anesthesia care to patients.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NEEDED: 
• None 
TRAINING & EDUCATION NEEDED:
• Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing.
• Graduate of an approved school of Anesthesia.
• Licensed and current registration as a professional nurse in the State of Nebraska.
• Current certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
• Must possess valid Nebraska driver’s license.
• BLS Certification
Compensation:
  • CRNA (non-doctorate) – $107.04 - $123 (Salary would be $223,392 to $255,840 for non-doctorate)
  • CRNA (doctorate) – $112.04 – $128 (Salary would be $233,043 to $266,240 for doctorate)
  • Sign-on and relocation allowance provided – typically around 20,000 combined.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Key: Occasional (1-3 hours per day or <33%)
Frequent (3-7 hours per day or 33-66%)

• Lifting:
Must be able to lift 20 lbs from shoulder height to waist on frequent basis. 
Must be able to lift 30 lbs from floor to shoulder height on occasional basis.
Must be able to lift 35 lbs from floor to waist on occasional basis.
• Push/Pull:
Must be able to push/pull 30 lbs at shoulder height/extended reach on occasional basis with awkward weight distribution and twisting/turning.
Must be able to push/pull 22 lbs at waist level on frequent basis.
Must be able to push/pull 40 lbs at waist level on occasional basis.
Must be able to lift/carry 35-40 lbs at waist level on occasional basis.
Must be able to push/pull 75 lbs at waist level on occasional basis.
• Standing/Walking/Sitting: 
Must be able to stand 5-8 hours.
Must be able to walk from 5-8 hours.
• Lower Extrems: 
Must be to kneel and squat on occasional basis.
• Upper Extrems: 
Must be able to grip/grasp/pinch laryngoscopes, anesthesia masks, syringes, ventilation bags, ambu-bags and related equipment on frequent basis.
• Equipment: 
Must be able to use computer and perform keyboarding on occasional basis.
• Environmental Factors: 
May be required to work on slippery surface.
May be required to work with noisy equipment during certain operative procedures.
May be required to work extended hours beyond 8-12 hours on an occasional basis.
Will work in environmental temperatures of 67 - 80.
JOB DUTIES:
• Maintains the standards of anesthesia care/practice.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of the hospital and Anesthesia Department.
• Under the overall direction of the physician/surgeon, provides safe, individualized, anesthesia care according to the standards of anesthesia practice established by the hospital.
• Provides appropriate pre-anesthesia evaluation of each patient and postoperative management.
• Responsible for formulating a plan of anesthesia care tailored to the patient's age, physical status, laboratory findings, and anticipated surgical procedure.
• Administers medications and performs treatments.
• Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate persons; records observations accurately and concisely.
• Maintains an economical utilization of equipment and supplies; maintains a clean and safe environment.
• Participates in the orientation of new personnel and participates in staff development.
• Establishes and maintains communications both inter and intra-departmental.
• Utilizes teaching opportunities with patients and other significant individuals.
• Assist with or initiates emergency measure for sudden adverse developments such as cardiac arrest.
• Participates in Quality Assurance activities for improvement of patient care.
• Complies with Attendance Management Policy in regards to attendance and timeliness, understanding the expectation of maintaining an absence percentage of 3% or less.
• Performs other duties as assigned by persons in charge.
Specifics
1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.
The CRNA will provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative anesthesia services; provide anesthetic care to OB population as well as participate in patient care throughout the facility as defined by scope of practice, skills, and hospital policy. 
2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
Computer charting (iPads, Desktop)
Pyxis system in each OR
Codonics labeling system in each OR
Ultrasound 
Glidescopes 
3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
Proficient in the delivery of anesthesia from pediatrics to geriatrics. Proficient in labor epidurals, spinals, and regional. 1 year of experience recommended but will consider taking new graduates if the canidate meets the requirements
4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)

5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?) 
Independent all CRNA practice
M-F, starting at 6 am. 
Call is required including weekends and right now call is 1:7; also includes back up call.

OB for labor epidurals and Csections
ER for traumas, intubations, IVs, other necessary procedures

Can bring own skull caps but need to be washed by hospital

We expect the CRNA to jump in and adequately deliver anesthesia to the full scope of their practice, but we will train you on the computer system for charting purposes. You will not be taking call until you feel comfortable and know your way around the hospital.
