This is a Bowling Operations Assistant Manager position with a small company managed by a cohesive team of professionals that is looking to increase our capability. This position earns a competitive wage of $19.00 - $22.00/hourly, depending on experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BOWLING OPERATIONS ASSISTANT MANAGER

The Bowling Operations Assistant Manager is responsible for the operation, employee guidance and information to perform their jobs to the highest standard in the absence of the Bowling Operations Manager. The Bowing Operations Assistant Manager is a working team member/manager who responsible for maintaining store operations, communicating issues and needs to upper-level management when needed, while supporting consistent customer needs through cashiering and answering questions.

Role Accountabilities & Expectations:

  • Supervise team members in the absence of upper-level management, including answering questions and coaching.
  • Follow established outline regarding opening and closing at the end of each day when assigned an opening or closing shift.
  • Work with team members to verify they have the necessary training to be successful in their roles and serve customers within company standards. Support upper-level Management by offering written documentation of any situations which should be documented.
  • Maintain trackers, logs, documents, worksheets and spreadsheets related to the assigned shifts.
  • Work directly with the Bowling Operations Manager to understand labor cost control measures and verify compliance on your assigned shifts.
  • Work positively with vendors when needed and communicate inventory needs as applicable.
  • Place orders as directed by the Bowling Operations Manager and accept deliveries on behalf of the organization when they arrive. Follow protocol to handle any discrepancies.
  • Communicate with the Bowling Operations Manager regarding any items not working properly.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all team members of the organization.
  • Use the cash register to accurately charge and serve customers.
  • Offer recommendations to the Bowling Operations Manager, including assisting in the planning and executing monthly deep clean.
  • Support the Bowling Operations Manager with maintenance of event equipment and supplies as directed.
  • Complete event guides before and after events. Meet all assigned monthly deadlines.
  • Attend all assigned meetings and offer feedback as appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring shifts are filled, covering whenever necessary Backup Manger and bowling operations team members shifts as needed to support the store.
  • Assist in team member recruitment, hiring, development, training, accountability and progressive discipline and discharge with the Human Resources team.
  • Assist and/or communicate adjustments of any employee's missed time punches in Paylocity on a daily basis with the payroll team.
  • Lead player relations, retention and increasing membership activities.
  • Assist on the floor when and where necessary to ensure positive Guest experience.
  • Provide assistance to Bowling Operations Manager and/or League Coordinator by supporting activities for leagues, updating calendars for scheduling and reservations.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A BOWLING OPERATIONS ASSISTANT MANAGER

  • High school degree or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years proven experience in Bowling Center/Restaurant/ Bar/Nightclub Management as an Assistant Manager or Manager, bowling management experience preferred.
  • Experience in a high-volume setting.
  • Results driven individual with a demonstrated record of prior success.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with guests, team members and possess strong leadership qualities.
  • Highly organized and strong work ethic.
  • Must be available to work all shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to speak, read and comprehend English.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Must remain in compliance with drug-free workplace policies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (as required by OSHA and ADA)

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and evening hours as business demands.
  • Must be able to spend 100% of working time standing, walking and reaching.
  • Must be able to carry loads greater than 35 pounds and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
  • Hearing sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level is typical for a bowling center.
