Job Purpose

Schedules and registers patients for the Outpatient Infusion Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Register and admit incoming patients.
• Accurately collect information from a variety of sources; analyze and records the required demographic, insurance/financial, and clinical data sets.
• Ensure completion of all admission forms including the (signed) Conditions of Admission form and claim forms printed/obtained from patient; copies insurance cards and patient identification.
• Ensures that the patient is comfortably situated.
• Obtains other information and signatures necessary to schedule, pre-register and register Outpatient Infusion Center patients and ensure that bills are produced according to regulatory and payer requirements.
• Completes all activities including medical necessity and managed care requirement screening and third party eligibility and benefit verification.
• Answers telephones, greets patients, prepares charts, sends and receives faxes, interacts with physician practices, enters orders and charges as necessary.
• Ensures the smooth flow of patients through the infusion center.
• Assists in ordering supplies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Use, protect and disclose patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.

Requirements

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• College degree preferred
• 1 Year Office/Clerical experience in Healthcare field required
• 1 Year Hospital Admitting/Bed Control preferred
• 1 year Customer Service required
• Working knowledge of EPIC preferred
