Aerial Lineman

The position requires a good working knowledge of all aspects of telecommunications construction including - make-ready, strand placement, and cable placement.

What Do You Offer Us?

  • Experience with aerial lift devices, utility lines and poles, and the functionality of each is required.
  • Experience working around energized parts and lines.
  • Solid understanding of minimum approach distances
  • Certified for pole top / mobile platform vehicle rescue.
  • Identify nominal voltages R2 table
  • Familiarity with mobile platform vehicle operations, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Personal fall protection inspections, fitting, and wear by all.
  • Ensure accuracy of work orders and work being performed is conducted to Mears’ standards in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that all materials, supplies, tools and equipment are procured in a time efficient manner
  • Ensure that work sites are cleaned and cleared of any hazardous materials prior to the beginning of a construction project.
  • Comply with all DOT regulations.
  • Other tasks may be assigned as needed per business needs
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

What is Required?

  • 3 - 5 years aerial line experience in the telecommunications field
  • Certified NLC training certificate or other lineman’s school
  • Ability to read and understand make-ready drawings and sheets
  • Ability to read and understand all aspects of cable design
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; Class A CDL preferred
  • The ability to work safely, with or without supervision
  • The ability to work aloft, either from a ladder or other aerial lift device
  • Ability to travel
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods with repeated lifting (Up to 50 lbs.), kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching

This position is subject to the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) drug & alcohol testing regulations as outlined in 49 CFR Part 382 and/or 49 CFR Part 199.
