General Summary

Efficiently operate Meals on Wheels Home Delivery services, overseeing volunteer training and scheduling, meal packing, pick-up, and delivery. Manage client re-assessments and maintain accurate records for Meals on Wheels People clients and volunteers. Provide general office support, kitchen assistance, corporate outreach, and community engagement as needed.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Ensure on-time delivery of meals to home-bound participants following Meals on Wheels People standards.
    • Schedule volunteer drivers daily and maintain accurate route books.
    • Follow up with participants if a driver is unable to deliver a meal.
    • Manage participant care, including reassessments, change tracking, and record maintenance.
  • Assist Site Manager in responsive hunger relief services, including supplemental meals, partnerships, contracts, ethnic meals, and programming for isolation.
  • Aid in screening, registration, and training of volunteers.
  • Maintain and update client and volunteer information in data management systems.
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks.
  • Support Meals on Wheels People events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Participate in in-service training and required meetings.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of Meals on Wheels People, Inc.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications


Education & Knowledge

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain within two weeks of hire.
  • CPR certified or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and transportation required.

Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Proven experience in effectively managing, engaging, and retaining volunteers.
  • Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian, or African languages strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, record-keeping, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong problem-solving and solution implementation skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications and MS Office suite.
  • Quick learner of new computer programs; experience with client data management systems a plus.

Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
