Job Summary

The Patient Financial Coordinator works closely with the Department Head to establish and monitor payment terms for all patients being admitted to the facility.

Primary responsibilities of this position (include but are not limited to):

  • Establishes payment terms for all patient accounts, adhering to approved guidelines
  • Provides Financial contracts to patient or financially responsible party for signature prior to or upon admission.
  • Collects payment(s) prior to or upon admission in accordance with established payment terms.
  • Maintains reports regarding Patient financial status.
  • Responds timely and accurately to all incoming correspondence and inquiries from payers, patients, and other appropriate parties. Initiates contact with patients, as necessary. Initiates recommendations and action plans for resolving accounts.
  • Elevates issues, as appropriate, to the Supervisor. Meets daily and weekly productivity standards. Supports Company core values, policies, and procedures.

Education, Skill and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in Patient Accounts or Finance area preferred.
  • Knowledge of Managed Care processes.
  • Ability to provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to effectively listen, process received information, and express ideas both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to initiate action, take personal responsibility, suggest improvements, and solve problems within scope of job without being asked.
  • Ability to understand and comply with government, regulatory, and hospital rules.
  • Ability to record, report, and maintain confidentiality of information and respond to requests for information.
  • Ability to get assigned work done in an acceptable manner, in the time allotted, with minimal prompting or reminders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, multi-task, coordinate projects and record/transcribe general and specific meeting minutes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Communicate with other staff to relay concerns and observations involving patient safety.
  • Occasionally needed to work irregular hours or additional hours.
