Meadowbrook Manor is seeking an Infection Control Nurse. We are looking to help provide our residents with the compassionate, high-level healthcare they deserve. As a part of our care team, you’ll bring your strong customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with our residents, families, physicians and other members of our multidisciplinary team.

The Infection Control Nurse will support Infection Control and Prevention goals by being responsible for providing a safe environment where risks for infection are identified and minimized for patients, employees and visitors. This person will provide programs, data reporting, data analysis, intervention development aimed at reduction of healthcare acquired infections in patients and employees.

  • The Infection Control Specialist is involved with all aspects of disease prevention and outbreak control.
  • This individual will be responsible for surveillance programs, data reporting and analysis, and intervention development to improve practices and reduce infections.
  • Responsibilities will also include coordinating with the organization’s reference lab, communicating with public health departments, enacting or updating healthcare regulations and organization policies to prevent the spread of diseases in the Facility.
  • This individual will provide standardized, consistent education and training to all employees on how to protect themselves and their patients/clients/visitors from spreading infection.
  • Conducts ongoing surveillance for detection of infections. Serves as an infection control and prevention resource. Serves as Chairperson for the Infection Control Committee.
  • Assists in reviewing and updating organization risk assessments, exposure control plan, infection control and prevention plan, and other related policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement written and oral education for staff pertaining to infection control practices and guidance, such as standard and transmission-based precautions, immunization, sharps safety, hand hygiene practices, and cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization practices for equipment and environment.
  • Collaborate with DON, ADON and clinical managers along with other appropriate staff regarding optimal methods of cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing patient care equipment.
  • Maintains up to date CLIA licenses. Applies for any additional CLIA licenses as needed.
  • Develops and implements policies, education and training for Facility staff regarding CLIA waived testing and performs and maintains staff competency evaluations along with other appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Risk Management team regarding protocols for the prevention and management of exposure and infections in staff.
  • Coordinate communication with public health departments. Reports any required positive results through the Red Cap - INEDSS system.
  • Monitor staff compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Assure adherence to external agencies infection control standards, such as IDPH and The Joint Commission. Stays current with applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements and attends related educational programs as needed. Adheres to all federal, state and local regulations and accreditation standards as required. Follows established guidelines for use and/or disclosure of protected health information.
  • Assist with developing and implementing organization goals and objectives related to infection control.

Performs other duties as assigned.

State of Illinois Registered Nursing License

Minimum 2 years of experience in infection control preferred.

Experience with IDPH & The Joint Commission preferred.

Certification in Infection Control through CBIC preferred; individuals not meeting this requirement may be hired contingent on achieving certification within specified time frame.
