POSITION: Director of Nursing (Registered Nurse) at Meadow View Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Montrose, PA
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Position requires expert professional knowledge and skills necessary to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Resident Care Department in accordance with all current regulatory standards to ensure the highest degree of quality care; knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to provide first class patient care; expert knowledge of policies, regulations, and procedures governing resident care; expert knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer resident care; demonstrated ability to apply the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing associated with long term resident care; preparing and maintaining detailed records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence; cultivate and manage effective working relationships with residents, medical staff, and the community; effectively manage regulatory and company compliant quality control standards; demonstrate effective verbal and written English communication; lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
2. Experience: Prior experience in administration in the health care field is preferred.
3. Certificate/Licenses: (1) Current Pennsylvania license, (2) CPR certification.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission to the facility.
2. Complete the admission assessment of the resident, including resident care planning.
3. Evaluate effects of care delivered and assign special treatments when indicated.
4. Assure resident safety through nursing staff.
5. Provide resident and family teaching and counseling as necessary.
6. Participate in establishing and managing annual budget for Nursing.
7. Integrate and coordinate care with other disciplines, including physicians.
8. Determine and schedule the staffing needs to meet the total care needs of the residents.
9. Responsible for the recruitment and selection of resident care personnel.
10. Develop, implement and maintain an effective staff orientation program.
11. Make daily rounds to ensure the performance of staff and the well-being of the resident.
12. Assist in the evaluation of resident care personnel.
13. Review complaints made by personnel, residents or visitors.
14. Ensure that personnel follow established departmental policies and procedures, and provide discipline as necessary.
15. Ensure that staff disciplinary action is administered consistently pursuant to company policy.
16. Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all resident care information.
17. Ensure that all resident care personnel are knowledgeable of the resident’s rights.
18. Monitor resident care to assure that all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect.
19. Review and revise care plans and assessments as necessary.
20. Attend Rehab. Meetings and assist in determining Medicare A&B of residents.
22. Conduct staff meetings and in-service education.
23. Provide tours of the facility and an explanation of the admission procedure to prospective residents and family members when Social Services staff is unavailable.
24. React calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
25. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication in English.
26. Review invoices and Med-B forms for billing.
27. Coordinate Quality of Care and Infection Control sub-committees of Quality Assurance Committee.
28. Update department’s policies and procedures manual at least annually.
29. Practices safe working habits.
